What is your vision for 2021?
You must be thinking, “Angeline, we’re still in 2020, why are you talking about 2021 already?” – yes, because when the New Year comes, it will be too late already. Today, I am giving you an advantage while everybody else is still living in 2020, let’s talk about your vision for 2021.
Do you ever feel lost and ask yourself, “What is my purpose?”
Have you ever felt confused, depressed, and had such a foggy and noisy mind that you can’t think straight? If your answer is yes, I can totally relate to you because that happens to me too. I sometimes feel lost and ask myself what I am doing and why I am doing it – especially during busy days when there are many projects on the table and they create a lot of stress. When we get lost, we lose sight of our vision and we need to talk about it to bring us back on track. I realized that it depends on your vision – what your vision is and how you define vision itself.
Your vision could be your goals and dreams, but your vision should also be whom you want to be and what you want to accomplish. These are simple questions to answer, but as we get busy in our everyday lives, we lose track of our vision and what we want to create.
Here’s how I manifest my life and it all starts with a vision.
As you can hear, I speak with an accent. I wasn’t born in the US. I was born and raised in China.
When I was little, I always had this vision in my head that someday, I will marry a very successful man – very successful in business, very family-oriented, and loyal to me. At the time, it was just a vision – it just felt so good to think and dream about it. I didn’t realize that it was the vision I had for my dream spouse.
I met my husband in China. He is American, but we met in China. Can you imagine that? We come from different places, but we happened to meet and he happened to be my dream husband. He is very successful in business, very family-oriented, and I appreciate his love towards me and the family. That’s how I manifest. I just keep the vision within me.
When I got to the US, I wrote down 3 things that I still remember today – I asked myself what I wanted to accomplish when I get to this country and I didn’t know what I wanted.
I drew a triangle and wrote down 3 simple things I wanted to accomplish. At the bottom of the triangle, the first thing I wrote was “family” because family is very important to me. On the left side of the triangle, I wrote “career”. On the right side, I wrote “giving back”.
At that time, I didn’t even know why I was saying those things, but that was my vision for myself.
This is my 11th year in the US and for me, the family is a foundation. I didn’t even know it, but I have already created a beautiful family. After I got married, I wanted to have 2 kids – ideally, a boy and a girl. Ideally, the boy would be born in the year of the dragon, because in China, the dragon is a very powerful symbol. I felt like it would be cool if my boy would be born in the year of the dragon. My girl, ideally, would be born in the year of the horse. At that time, it was just a simple vision, it felt so good to think about it.Now, I have 2 kids – my son, born in the year of the dragon, and my daughter, born in the year of the horse. How did I do that? I don’t know. I just come up with what I want, and it’s so powerful.
The first one I wrote in that triangle was family, and I spent my first few years here in the country building my family. Now, on the left side, I wrote “career”. I didn’t know what kind of career I wanted at the time, but I knew that I wanted to have something that I can be proud of while staying at home, something that can fulfill my personal value, something that can help me contribute to the family, and something that can help me become an independent businesswoman. I didn’t know what kind of business I was going to get into, so I just kept on exploring until I found my dream career in the financial services industry, making a difference in many people’s lives, completing the right side of my triangle which is giving back.
I dedicated the first 11 years of my life here in the country to build my family, myself, and my career, and I dedicate the rest of my life from now to giving back. I dedicate the rest of my life to serve – my family, the community, the world, and to make a difference.
I shared my story not to impress you but to let you realize the power of vision. I encourage you today to not wait until the year to begin writing your vision down. It’s going to take you some time, so it is better that you start now.
Here are a few tips to help you write your vision down. For me, I use the 5 F’s.1. Faith- Faith is defined in many ways, but for me, this faith is who I want to become. What kind of human being I want to be. It is my spiritual vision.2. Fitness- Health is so important. I have seen so many people who sacrifice their health and time for their wealth. That is the worst trade you can do in your life. There’s no best time to begin committing to your health than today. Your wealth will not do you any good if you are not healthy.3. Family- You can have health and wealth but at the end of the day, you will want someone to share it with too. Family is very important.4. Finance- What do you want to accomplish financially? Some people focus too much on other aspects like health and family, that they do not pay attention to their personal investments anymore. If you do not know where to begin, there are many financial coaches that can help you get on the right track.5. Fun- Have fun. Life is not black and white. It is colorful! It does not have to be big – have fun and enroll in classes that will allow you to socialize, or simply watch movies and have fun with the family.
So today, I want you to take action for your vision for 2021. Do not start in January – start now! Forget about the how, just think about it and dream about it.
