The Abundant Life

How many of you would love to live the life of abundance – to go on vacation with your family and not worry about paying bills, work, or money; to just enjoy yourself and enjoy life?

Everything that you desire is absolutely possible. I can be a good example of that.

I’m currently working on a book with Jim Bridge and Kevin Harrington called Cracking The Rich Code. When I was writing my chapter, I reflected on my life from when I was about 5 years old until I grew up and got to the US and I couldn’t help but cry. The memories came back like I was living it again.

When I was 5 years old, my mom had no choice but to leave me with a relative so she could go to another city and make a living. I still remember growing up all over the place – in a barbershop, sleeping behind the curtain while parents are working out front, sometimes having to go to relatives to eat, sometimes needing to stay with other people, and getting to see my parents only twice a year.

I remembered working so hard in China, working through 4 years in college to become the top student in the whole school, the day I was chosen to deliver the commencement speech to the whole school, the day I was given the Golden Key award – that was the proudest time of my life, but my parents couldn’t show up because they had to work hard to make money.

When I grew up, I always felt like in order to have a good life, we need to work hard for the money. I have been programmed to think that life is about hard work and sacrifice. When I came to the US, I felt that in order to be successful and make a lot of money, I needed to get my Master’s Degree, so that’s what I did. I took the usual route that people say will make you successful – go to school, get good grades, and get a nice job.

I followed that route and it crushed my dreams. I couldn’t get a job that paid well – I was being offered minimum wage. I had a lot of doubts because the old way did not work. During this time, I picked up a book by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter called Rich Dad, Poor Dad. That book has changed my life completely because I adopted a new mindset. It showed me what was possible. I always wanted a life where I would never worry about money. It changed my mindset from the left side – being an employee and working hard for the money to the right side – being an entrepreneur or a successful investor, having money, people, and systems working for you.

That was a turning point in my life and I committed to having an abundant life for myself. I did not know how I was gonna do it at the time, but that’s my vision. I wanted to take care of myself, my family, and no longer worry about money. I wanted to live life to the fullest, I did not have enough resources, but that was not important. What’s important was I had that vision for myself.

In this life, we all have the chance to be the director of our own movie. What kind of life do you want to create?Forget how – that’s not important. What’s important is how clear your vision is and that you follow your heart.

I failed many times and there have been times where I doubted myself and I kept on asking if I really had what it takes to be successful and make my dreams come true, but I pushed myself forward and I continued because I don’t want to give up on my dream and I want to provide this amazing life for my family. I kept going and held that vision in my mind and eventually, I started making the right connections, making the right investments, and things started turning around.

Right now, I live in my dream home with 7 people in my family. We live in a 10,000sqft home in Texas, and I was able to provide for my parents’ retirement so they no longer have to worry about money and they can enjoy it because they’ve been working so hard all their lives.

Everything that you want is possible. Never ever lose that hope because sometimes, life will throw challenges at you because you need to grow. I always believe that the Universe makes no mistakes. Everything happens for a reason. Without those challenges, how can we grow to become better people? How do we get to appreciate the life that we have today? Without those setbacks, how can we embrace and be proud of the person we have become?

As long as you don’t give up and you keep that vision along with faith and gratitude, you can make your dreams a reality. Embrace every success and every challenge that comes in your life.
